Serena and Venus Williams will compete in doubles at Wimbledon for the first time in 4 years.
The sisters, who both live in Palm Beach County, received a doubles wild-card invitation from The All England Club on June 16 for the Grand Slam grass tournament that starts in two weeks. They had not played doubles together since the 2022 U.S. Open – losing their opening match.
Serena and Venus dominated doubles play at Wimbledon for two decades, winning six titles in a span of 16 years. Their first two Wimbledon doubles crowns actually came as wild cards (2000, 2002).
Serena, 44, returned to tennis competition last week in doubles at the Queen’s Club tournament in London with partner Victoria Mbokoast, who had to withdraw after suffering a knee injury. Serena is scheduled to play doubles with Karolina Muchova at the Berlin Open later today.
Venus, who still competes in singles, turns 46 on June 17.
Serena also could play singles at Wimbledon. The All England Club has eight wild-card spots for women’s singles but one has been left open “to be announced.”
When is the 2026 Wimbledon Championships?
The 2026 Wimbledon Championships are set to start on Monday, June 29, and will run through Sunday, July 12, at the historic All England Lawn Tennis Club in London. The doubles tournament will kick off on Wednesday, July 1.
