Storms move into Cincinnati area. See timing, forecast

Severe weather could hit Greater Cincinnati this week.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday, June 16, through Thursday, June 18, across Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Strong to severe storms are possible late Tuesday afternoon into early evening. Damaging winds are the main threat.

Widespread showers and severe thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday into Wednesday night. Damaging winds are the primary threat, though large hail and an isolated tornado are also possible. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding Wednesday night.

Storms will linger Thursday, then taper off in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 58. West wind around 6 mph, becoming calm in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Low of around 70. Southwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts of half to three-quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. High near 84. West wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 60. The chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.Friday (Juneteenth): Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.

Friday night: Mostly clear, with a low of around 59.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 82.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low of around 62.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 66. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
