Gleyber Torres leaves Detroit Tigers game with injury after swinging

HOUSTON – Gleyber Torres is injured again.

The Detroit Tigers’ second baseman exited in the second inning Monday, June 15, against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park after swinging at (and missing) a first-pitch 92.4 mph fastball from right-hander Kai-Wei Teng.

Torres left the game with manager A.J. Hinch and assistant athletic trainer Kelly Rhoades.

The specifics of the injury are unknown.

The 29-year-old has already been injured in 2026. He landed on the injured list May 4 with a left oblique strain – and didn’t return until June 2.

In Monday’s game, the Tigers replaced an injured Torres with pinch-hitter Hao-Yu Lee, who also took over at second base.
