Report: Bears sign UFL linebacker Tony Fields II

The Chicago Bears are signing Columbus Aviators linebacker Tony Fields II out of the United Football League, according to UFL analyst Michael Del Negro.

Fields, originally a fifth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2021, is coming off an impressive season where he finished second in the UFL with 77 tackles, adding five tackles for loss and a sack, as well as earning All-UFL honors. Fields spent five seasons in the NFL before joining the UFL and playing for the Aviators last season.

In four seasons with the Browns, Fields appeared in 45 games, including 10 starts, and played mostly on special teams. During the 2024 season, he had a brief stint on the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad and later signed a reserve/future deal before being cut in Aug. 2025.

The Bears have plenty of new (and returning familiar) faces at linebacker this offseason, led by free-agent signing Devin Bush, fifth-round rookie Keyshaun Elliott and former Chicago undrafted free agent Jack Sanborn. It’s a loaded room, so Fields will have his work cut out for him.
