A 39-year-old man from DeWitt is dead after a motorcycle crash at Grattan Raceway in Kent County, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say deputies responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on the local track at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, June 7.
The man, who was participating in an open riding event, was pronounced dead at the scene, despite wearing a helmet and protective riding gear at the time of the crash.
The sheriff’s office said it is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Grattan Raceway is a two-mile course located north of Grand Rapids. It features 10 challenging turns and a 3,200-foot straight away.
