Muskego junior Kyleigh Sadler was the winner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week poll from May 25-30.
Sadler was dominant in Muskego’s 9-0 victory over Waukesha North in the regional final May 28. She allowed one hit with 14 strikeouts for the Warriors, adding two hits in four at-bats at the plate. It was her fourth straight game with at least two hits.
Sadler received 25,464 of 47,145 total votes cast.
Lexi Pawlowski of Franklin girls track/lacrosse was the runner-up in last week’s poll. On May 26 at the Division 1 track regionals hosted by Franklin, Pawlowski won the 300-meter hurdle event, helped the 800-relay team win the event while setting a school record, and finished second with the 1,600-relay team. Two days later, she scored a goal with six draw controls in Franklin’s 8-5 upset of Muskego in lacrosse for Franklin’s first-ever postseason victory. On May 29, she won the 300-meter hurdle sectional title, along with helping the Sabers’ 800 and 1,600 relay teams win sectional titles.
Other nominees included Kyenret Rinkam of Brookfield Central girls track and field, Cole Zielinski of Waukesha West boys track and field, and Ryan Bellanti of Slinger boys golf.
