A popular regional band will be featured in the Shakespeare at the Castle production of “As You Like It.”
Shakespeare at the Castle will run for eight shows from July 23-27 and July 30-Aug. 2 at Glamorgan Castle in Alliance. The annual theater event coincides with the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival, which this year will go from July 30 to Aug. 9.
“As You Like It,” a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare, follows Rosalind as she flees persecution to find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden.
Gary B. Lamb will direct the Shakespeare at the Castle adaptation, which also will feature popular Americana quartet Rock Salt and Nails as the onstage band.
“Given that ‘As You Like It’ is set in the folk music era of the mid 1960s, we couldn’t have thought of a better band to accompany our production,” said director Gary Lamb. “Providing their special take on the songs of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and other artists of the era, Rock Salt and Nails is the perfect scene partner.”
All performances begin at 7 p.m. The Glamorgan Castle grounds open early for those who wish to picnic before the show. A vendor also will selling food and drinks prior to the show and during intermission.
Tickets are on sale now. General admission pre-sale tickets are $20 for adults and $13 for children. Bleacher pre-sale tickets are $12. Children ages 5 and younger can join for free but still require a ticket.
Day-of general admission tickets will be $25 for adults and $20 for students. Day-of bleacher seats will be $15.
Tickets can be purchased at mountunion.edu/boxoffice or by calling the Mount Union Box Office at 330-821-2565.
