New Philadelphia's Wyatt Lendon wins OHSAA state title in 1600-meter

New Philadelphia’s Wyatt Lendon crossed the finish line first Sunday, June 7, capturing gold in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:11.56 at the 2026 OHSAA track and field championships.

Lendon qualified for the state race after finishing second at his regionals with a time of 4:11.21.

Lendon concludes his high school track career with a personal best time of 4:11.21 in the 1600-meter run. 

During his final year at New Philadelphia, Lendon placed first in eight events and never finished worse than second in individual events.
