AKRON — The Louisville Leopards and Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs met in the OHSAA Division III state championship game on Saturday, June 6 at Firestone Stadium.
Louisville jumped out to a quick lead and then it was all Bloom-Carroll in a 10-1 win.
The Leopards (18-14) were in state tournament title game for the first time since 2019 after a 3-2 win over Madison in extra innings on Friday. The Leopards won the Division I state title in ’19. But they were unable to add title No. 2.
Bloom-Carroll, which reached the state title game with a 2-1 win over Greenville on Friday, wins its fourth state title and first since 2013.

Bloom-Carroll wins Division III state title
Bloom-Carroll gets the final out and wins the Division III state title by a score of 10-1 over Louisville. Bloom-Carroll had 10 runs on 13 hits with no errors. Louisville had one run on five hits with two errors. Leah Claugus led off the bottom of the first with a home run for the Leopards to account for their run.

Some fun in between innings here. A student in a grape poncho beat out a sliding student in a green bean poncho in a mascot race before the start of the fourth inning. The grape narrowly pulls out the win despite the head-first dive by the bean.

What time does the Louisville game begin?
The Louisville vs. Bloom-Carroll game was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. at Firestone Stadium on Saturday. But storms earlier Saturday have pushed things back and the tentative start time is 9:40 p.m. That time, though, could be moved up since the Division II state semifinal being played ahead of Louisville’s is moving quickly.

Action was suspended early Saturday afternoon for about 90 minutes, delaying the start of the Liberty Union-South Range Division V state semifinal. That game, scheduled for 12:30 p.m., started just after 2.
