The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery with the No. 6 overall pick after entering the event tied for the best odds of getting the No. 1 pick. With Brooklyn picking firmly in the second tier of the 2026 draft class, there are plenty of players projected to be taken by the Nets, but one of those players has not worked out for the team yet.
“Nate Ament has not worked out for the Nets, according to sources. People around the league are saying Brooklyn holds the Vols forward in high regard, but as of now they haven’t had him in yet,” Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported on Friday. Tennessee forward Nate Ament is one of several players that have been linked to Brooklyn in some way, but it’s notable that the team hasn’t brought him in for a workout yet.
With Lewis noting that people around the NBA believe that the Nets hold Ament in high regard could be a nod to the amount of reporting that has connected him to Brooklyn up to this point. Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo! Sports has been reporting that the Nets and Ament remain connected among those in league circles and it makes sense when you review the former Volunteer’s profile.
“Nate Ament is working out for top-10 teams and isn’t expected to slip outside the lottery. He measured well in Chicago, coming in even taller than expected barefoot (6’9.5), an enticing height for a player with his ability to attack and shoot from different spots playing on and off the ball,” Jonathan Wasserman wrote of Ament for Bleacher Report. Ament has drawn comparisons to players like Kevin Durant due to his great positional size and potential shotmaking ceiling.
Ament is coming off a solid freshman season for Tennessee as he averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 33.3% from behind the three-point line. If the Nets stay at No. 6 and use the pick, Brooklyn could be considering a number of players expected to be available in that range, but Ament’s stock with the team could increase once he works out for them.
