After Texas A&M baseball’s elimination in the regionals by USC, an Aggie mom unleashed her rage in a fiery social media rant, calling out head coach Michael Earley.
Amy Chestnut, the mother of infielder Travis Chestnut, made a post on Instagram about her son’s contributions and how Earley couldn’t advance in the NCAA Tournament, despite a talented roster. She also said Travis was one of many players who were sitting on the bench, while having the ability to contribute.

After the post gained traction across social media platforms, Amy has since updated her post with a new caption, before going into Travis’ contributions and how he did not see the field as much as she thought he deserved during his time in Bryan-College Station.
“Edited to be the politically correct version because there are people offended by little ol’ me… Same point, just wrapped in bubble wrap… here ya go,” Amy said via Instagram on the now-updated post.
This isn’t the first time the Aggie baseball mom has gone on a fiery rant on social media, expressing her dissatisfaction with where the program is at and how much playing time Travis was receiving, however.
Following Texas A&M’s appearance in the national championship against Tennessee in Omaha, Amy made a long post about how former head coach Jim Schlossnagle was treating Travis.
“Despite being handcuffed by a coach who didn’t let him play the game the way he excels, Travis remained resilient,” She said. “It breaks my heart that he had to endure such treatment from a coach he only wanted to make proud.”
While his mom made it appear like he is a 12-U travel ball kid not getting enough playing time for his competitive baseball team, this does not at all justify Travis’ character. He is a hard-working infielder who produced many incredible moments during his time playing for the Aggies.
Travis spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career with Texas A&M, before transferring to St. Edward’s after the Aggies’ College World Series run in 2024. He posted a .308 batting average and 11 home runs in 2025 and returned to College Station this year in Earley’s second campaign as head coach. While his opportunities were limited due to a stacked roster, he was able to produce a .256 batting average, six RBIs and one homer in his graduate season.
Despite Amy’s claims of injustice and the disappointing outcome from this season’s ventures, Earley led a complete turnaround in 2026 after missing the postseason last year. The loss to the Trojans was a disappointing close, but the Aggies are headed in the right direction under their current skipper.
