COLDWATER, MI — There is plenty to do as the summer season in the city begins with several events this weekend:
Tibbits Opera House
The first show of the season opens Friday, June 5 for a two-weekend run.
“The Marvelous Wonderettes” musical features Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy—who entertained their classmates at their Senior Prom in 1958 with the biggest hits of the day.
But over the course of the evening, they also competed with one another to be crowned Prom Queen—a night none of them will ever forget.
Ten years later, the girls reunite for their class reunion, where they’ll be performing again.
But have all the changes in the past ten years changed them? A nostalgic look back at the music of the ’50s and ’60s, with songs like “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Mr. Sandman,” and many more.
John Rohloff / Coldwater Exchange Club Duck Race
Rubber ducks will race down the Sauk River Saturday, June 6 during the annual fundraiser, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Waterworks Park in Coldwater.
For a $5 donation, you can have a chance at a $2,600 cash prize or one of many other substantial cash prizes and gifts donated to the event.
There are kids’ games, food, and music as the Exchange Club raises money for various groups and charities in the community.
Ducks are available at businesses in Coldwater, from club members, and at the race.
Coldwater Fly In & Car Show
On Sunday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to noon, the Branch County Flying Club hosts the annual Fly-In pancake breakfast, a fundraiser for aviation scholarships.
The event draws planes from all over the region for an up-close look by the public in the main hangar at Elite Air Service at Branch County Memorial Airport, 300 Airport Dr.
The all-you-can-eat breakfast is a $5 donation.
For the third year, a classic car and motorbike show runs alongside.
