Watch teen on e-scooter run Bunnell stop sign. Then his day gets worse

A teenager on an e-scooter ran a stop sign and collided with a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle in Bunnell June 3, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy was traveling about 19 mph when the 15-year-old on an electric scooter ran a stop sign and collided with the patrol vehicle, which had the right of way, according to the sheriff’s office.

Flagler County Fire Rescue evaluated the teen, who was not seriously injured, the sheriff’s office stated in a social media post.

The Bunnell Police Department is investigating the crash.

The sheriff’s office stated the incident “could have ended very differently.”

“Parents please take a few minutes to talk with your kids about riding safely,” Sheriff Rick Staly stated in the social media post. “These devices are fun, but they share the road with cars, trucks and deputies. Let’s all do our part to keep our riders safe.”

Palm Coast rules about e-bikes are ‘best practices’ for everyone

The sheriff’s office provided a list of Palm Coast regulations which it said provides “best practices for everyone on the road” even though they don’t apply in Bunnell.
