The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will need their secondary to make a big leap in terms of consistency and production in 2026.
The unit was expected to have some growing pains last season as they added two starters to their unit in the 2025 NFL Draft in Benjamin Morrison and Jacob Parrish. Parrish thrived in the nickel spot for the team while Morrison was forced into more of a significant role on the outside, replacing an injured Zyon McCollum at times.
On Tuesday, it was McCollum who spoke to the media, and he shared the excitement he has with the two young cornerbacks after seeing how well they were prepared coming into OTAs.
McCollum shared, “He (Benjamin Morrison) went into the offseason, he was very detailed about his work. He got his body right, you know? And Jacob, he was always a dog, same model. . .So those guys, they bring young energy to the room, and, you know, being in a room with a lot of veteran presence in there. . .they step up to that challenge, you know?”
On top of being positive in regards to what they could get out of their younger cornerbacks, they also should be getting a healed-up Zyon McCollum as well. The talent is there up and down the depth chart for this team, especially in the secondary; now they just have to get the results they are capable of.
