Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd believes he has injury issues figured out

After two seasons ruined by injury, Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd is entering Year 3 with renewed confidence that he’s figured out why his body has failed him early on in his NFL career.

Lloyd, a 2024 third-round pick who has played in just one regular season game, spent the offseason at the Meyer Institute of Sport in Segundo, California. His work with Dr. John Meyer at the performance center revealed a need to get stronger in the supporting areas in his lower body following a torn ACL suffered during the 2020 season at South Carolina.

“Overcompensating, back to all the way from college, my ACL, just things that didn’t get the strength they needed,” Lloyd said, per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. “I had to re-evaluate that, get my quads stronger, get my whole body stronger, honestly. I’ve been able to go to him, get those things figured out. It’s been really good.”

Lloyd has suffered through several soft tissue injuries in his lower body since joining the Packers, including problems with his hip, groin, hamstring and calf. Last year, Lloyd suffered a severe hamstring injury during the preseason and ended up not appearing in a regular season game.

Now confident in his body again, Lloyd is ready to write a new narrative in his third pro season. He will go into the 2026 season with a big opportunity to play a real role at running back for the Packers, especially after Emanuel Wilson departed in free agency and Green Bay then passed on adding a running back via the draft.

After two unlucky seasons, is Lloyd finally ready to be a contributor for the Packers? His body is healthy, and opportunity is knocking.
