A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Florida man.
The Silver Alert was issued June 2 by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Larry Hackett, 78, was last seen in Spring Hill and may be traveling on U.S. 19 in the Cross City area, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Silver Alert issued for 78-year-old man missing from Spring Hill, Florida
A Silver Alert was issued Tuesday, June 2, for Larry Hackett, 78, of Spring Hill.
Hackett was last seen in the area of the 4200 block of Riviera Court in Spring Hill.
He may be traveling in a 2015, tan Ford Fusion, FL tag number BSY1Y.
The vehicle has a U.S. Army specialty tag, a cross sticker on the right side of the license plate, a cat lift truck logo sticker on the rear window, and black vinyl accent stickers surrounding the bottom of the vehicle, according to FDLE.
Hackett may be traveling northbound on U.S. 19 in the Cross City area.
Where is Spring Hill, Florida?
Spring Hill is located on Florida’s west coast, about 30 miles north of Tampa or 65 miles west of Orlando.
Cross City is located about 80 miles north of Spring Hill.

“The Florida Silver Alert is used to locate missing persons suffering from an irreversible deterioration of intellectual faculties,” the FDLE said.

Although each agency may have their own criteria for activation of a local Silver Alert for those individuals who are missing on foot, the Florida Silver Alert Support Committee recommends agencies use the following criteria as a guideline when issuing a local Silver Alert:
When is a statewide Silver Alert issued in Florida?
“For persons with dementia who go missing in a vehicle with an identified tag, a state Silver Alert may be issued.
“In these cases, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse (MEPIC) can assist with the illumination of dynamic message signs. State Silver Alerts can only be issued for cases meeting the criteria below.
