Threats to 'kill Jewish and African American people' prompt arrest of Jacksonville man

EDITOR’S NOTE: On Oct. 10, 2025, Holmes was acquitted by reason of insanity and committed for psychiatric or psychological examination. On May 12, 2026, his treatment provider was changed to the Veterans Administration Mental Health Intensive Care Management Program.

An hours-long FBI standoff ended Friday with the arrest of a Jacksonville man indicted on charges involving threats to kill Black people and Jews and children.

It began with Federal Bureau of Investigation agents issuing a warrant in the 1200 block of Soaring Flight Way between Kernan Boulevard and Girvin Road, the FBI confirmed. A neighbor told Times-Union news partner First Coast News it lasted four hours and they had to break the door down.

Duval County property records list the owner as 51-year-old Nathaniel James Holmes, who’s lived there 17 years. His Oct. 24 federal indictment cites four counts of interstate communications-threats and states he is also known as “ashkeNAZI_Covid_Connection.”

The four counts specify transmitting threats from Oct. 9 to 16. They include threatening to kill one person and stab the individual’s “[derogatory terms for Jewish and Black] kids to death.”

He is accused of threatening to murder two others and “kill Jewish and African American people,” according to the five-page indictment.

Court records show no criminal history for Holmes in Duval County. He will soon be scheduled for his first federal court appearance.
