The Ohio State football team just came off its first weekend of official summer visits. The guest list was short, but that was by design as Ryan Day wanted to put more emphasis on quality than quantity. The Buckeyes hosted just four prospects this weekend, but they were some big names, including five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou, five-star receiver Benny Easter, and five-star running back David Gabriel-Georges.
Easter is committed to Texas Tech, but decided to kick the Scarlet and Gray tires. Fakatou has received two crystal ball predictions to land with OSU, but the one Ryan Day feels like he absolutely needs to land is Gabriel-Georges. He is the No. 2 running back in the country and the No. 10 player overall according to 247Sports composite rankings. And Coach Day just got more good news regarding the prize he’s after. Ohio State has received a second crystal ball prediction from Alex Glietman, who has joined Steve Wiltfong in expecting Gabriel-Georges to commit to the Buckeyes.
Letterman Row spoke with a family member who shared that the visit was very positive, saying, “We were pleased with the experience we had. David is extremely happy as well.”
While all of this is a good sign, this recruiting battle is far from over. Gabriel-Georges still has three scheduled visits remaining with other programs. He’ll visit Tennessee, which is seen as Ohio State’s biggest competition, on June 5. However, Ole Miss and Georgia are both pushing hard, and both the Rebels and Bulldogs will get visits to close out the month.
It’s far from over, but things keep trending in the right direction for the Buckeyes.
