BATTLE CREEK — Meet the most recent nominees for Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all high school sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday.

Nominees for Bronson Battle Creek Athlete of the Week
Dayton Ennis
Coldwater
Dayton Ennis helped Coldwater win a Division 2 district title in baseball. Ennis was the winning pitcher in the 9-8 victory over Marshall in the district finals, entering in relief. Ennis also scored three runs in the victory, going 2-for-4.
Angelia Palma
Lakeview Softball
Angelia Palma helped Lakeview win a Division 1 district title in softball, defeating Mason 11-0 in the title clash. Palma went 2-for-4 with five RBIs for Lakeview in the championship game, including a three-run home run. Palma also pitched the shutout in a five-inning no-hitter, striking out nine.
Gabe Walliczek
Climax-Scotts Boys Track
Gabe Walliczek of Climax-Scotts finished as a state champ in the discus in the Division 4 Michigan High School Athletic Association state meet at Hudsonville, taking first with a throw of 170-9. Walliczek was also 12th in the shot put. Walliczek, a senior, has the school record in the discus at Climax-Scotts.
DJ Wood
Harper Creek Boys Track
DJ Wood became the first Harper Creek athlete ever to win back-to-back state titles in track. The defending state champ in the 110-meter hurdles won that event again at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 state track championships Wood, a senior, finished first in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.20.
