A 19-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Transmountain Road over the weekend, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
Andres Montañez, of El Paso, was crossing the roadway about 1 a.m. Saturday, May 30, on Transmountain Road (mile marker 20 of Loop 375) when he was hit by a silver Honda vehicle heading eastbound, stated a news release by sheriff’s spokeswoman Priscilla I. Contreras.
Montañez was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The death remains under investigation by sheriff’s special traffic investigators. No charges have been announced against the driver, who was not publicly identified by the Sheriff’s Office.
