Movies at Centennial Plaza

CANTON ‒ The Canton Palace Theatre’s Centennial Plaza Movie Series will be on Wednesday evenings from June 3 through Aug. 5 at Centennial Plaza in downtown Canton.

Entertainment for the free, family-friendly movies begins at 6:15 p.m., with movies beginning at 7 p.m. each week, rain or shine. Guests may bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Movie snacks will be available for sale on-site at Centennial Plaza each week. The movies for June are:

ABCD meeting dinner, awards

CANTON ‒ The ABCD annual meeting dinner and awards will be June 25 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 320 Market Ave. S. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., seating at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program will be at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $60; visit https://theabcdinc.com. Reservations should be made by June 16.

Garden plots available

CANTON ‒ Project ReBuild is offering garden plots at the Summit/Shorb Neighborhood Community Garden on Fifth Street NW near the intersection with High Avenue NW.

Community members can reserve a garden space for $10 per season. Each plot measures about 9 feet by 9 feet. Limited double plots also are available. The garden is fully fenced with secure access. Spaces may be limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Canton Greek Fest

CANTON ‒ The annual Canton Greek Fest will be June 4 through 6 at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 251 25th St. NW. The festival includes traditional music, dance performances, food, cooking demonstrations, and family-friendly attractions.

The Canton Greek Fest also offers church tours, a kids’ playground, a silent auction and cultural exhibits. There will be fireworks after dark on Saturday. Admission and on-site parking are free. Details, menus, and a schedule of events are at www.cantongreekfest.com.

McKinley Kennel Club show

CANTON ‒ McKinley Kennel Club will hold its 88th annual American Kennel Club licensed dog show, The Hall of Fame City Classic, on June 6 and 7 at the Stark County Fairgrounds, 305 Wertz Ave. NW.

Over 500 dogs will compete for the Best in Show title each day. There also will be a 4- to 6-month beginner puppy show, two fetch trials each day, along with canine good citizen testing and trick dog testing.

The club holds a raffle to raise funds for the PK9A, Police K9 Association based in Canton. Vendors will be on-site selling dog-related items. The theme of the event is “football,” so all spectators, exhibitors, stewards and judges are invited to dress in their favorite team’s attire. An AKC representative will be on hand June 6 to answer questions.

Admission is free, but the club collects a parking fee of $6 per vehicle. Show hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. All judging will be held in the Exhibition Hall and Art Hall. Judging programs will be available one week prior to the show and will be posted at www.mckinleykennelclub.net.

Canton Legacy Art Installation unveiling

CANTON – The public is invited to the unveiling of the Canton Legacy Art Installation at 4:30 p.m. June 5 at the Centennial Plaza Public Restroom Building, 408 Court Ave. NW. The installation is made possible through a partnership between the City of Canton and artist Dirk Rozich. The event will include light refreshments, remarks from city officials and Rozich, followed by the official reveal of the installation. There is no cost to attend.

Art in the Park

HARTVILLE ‒ The third annual Art in the Park event will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 6 downtown, with local artists, makers/craft artisans, musical performers and food trucks. Art in the Park is free and open to the public. Public parking will be available at Lake Elementary School and other downtown lots as designated.

The day will include a dedication ceremony at 2 p.m. for the Heritage Gateway, next to Workman’s Auto Parts and the Hartville Elevator Co.

Learn about Fort Laurens

MALVERN – In celebration of America’s 250 birthday, the Malvern Historical Society will host a free program on Fort Laurens, Ohio’s only American Continental fort, at 6 p.m. June 4 at Good Shepherd Hall, St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 S. Carrollton St.

Malvern Historical Society member and retired teacher Doug Angeloni will be the presenter. Along with the program, there will be a raffle for a display of artifacts from the American Revolution. All proceeds will go to the Malvern Historical Society.

History discussion, children’s program at museum

MASSILLON ‒ The topic for the history discussion group at the Massillon Museum, 121 Lincoln Way E, from 10 a.m. to noon June 2 will be “Lincoln Highway & Travel Stories.” The “Massillon Remembers” group meets on the first Tuesday of every month to chat casually about a pre-announced topic, usually a narrow segment of Massillon history. Chris Craft moderates the discussion. The group is free and open to everyone; new participants are always welcome. No reservations are required. Coffee and doughnuts are available for a donation.

The museum’s Littles Lunch & Learn program from noon to 1 p.m. June 9 will be Spring Hill Farm & Dairy ‒ An Interactive Experience. Children will learn about the dairy and take turns making butter. The free program is geared toward early and middle childhood but is open to all ages. Registration is requested but not required; call 330-833-4061.

Rose Luncheon

MASSILLON – The Massillon Woman’s Club Rose Luncheon will be June 4 and 5 at Five Oaks mansion, 210 Fourth St. NE. The program will be “Untold Stories of the First Ladies Library and Museum.”

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. June 4, with the program at 6:15 in the ballroom; dinner follows the program. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. June 5, with the program at 11:30 a.m. in the ballroom; lunch follows the program.

Concert, stories outdoors

NORTH CANTON – The first Summer Series Live at the Library concert under the North Canton City Hall portico, 145 N. Main St., will be at 6 p.m. June 4, with ONE – A Tribute to U2 performing. Food trucks will be Howlin Bird and Cobbler & Cream.

Concerts at the Plain amphitheater

PLAIN TWP. – The Cleveland Keys Dueling Pianos and Band will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. June 4 at the amphitheater, 2600 Easton St. NE.

Zoar, For Laurens history tour

ZOAR – Historic Zoar Village is partnering with Fort Laurens, Ohio’s only Revolutionary War fort, on a tour in celebration of America250 on June 6 and 13.

The guided tours will leave at 1 and 3 p.m. to take visitors along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail that connects both sites while exploring the history of the canal and its impact on both sites in terms of commerce, travel and daily life in the 19th century.
