Makai Lemon will soften the blow of losing AJ Brown for 2026 Eagles

Soon, A.J. Brown will no longer be a part of the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster. He was a physical weapon and a nightmare for defenses. He made it easy for Jalen Hurts, but the two were not always on the same page. If he was not getting his targets, he became a problem. Makai Lemon is not the physically imposing threat Brown was, but he still brings top-level competitiveness and a kind of physicality that sneaks up on defenders.

Lemon can break tackles, and he can make catches over defenders. The Eagles lost a physically dominant threat, but this season, they still will have one in other ways with the addition of Lemon.

Makai Lemon is as tough as they come, but that is not even his best asset. His best asset is his reliability and his amazing skill set to make him a quarterback. There is huge value in a weapon that is going to make the catch every time, and make the hard highlight reel catches.

Jalen Hurts thrives with weapons he can trust. Unfortunately, A.J. Brown stopped being that weapon for him. I think Lemon will not be as dominant as Brown early, but he will be a weapon that has a better connection with Hurts. Losing Brown seems like a huge loss in hindsight, but for the Eagles this season, I think this offense gets better with Makai Lemon as the replacement.
