JACKSON TWP. ‒ McDonald’s has rolled out six new beverages at its locally-owned restaurant at 5554 Wales Ave. NW.
Santiago Gil, owner of the Jackson Township location, greeted guests May 28 as they sampled the drinks and met Grimace and Q92’s Nikolina.
Gil said he was eager to hear feedback. He grew up in Jackson Township and lives in Perry Township.
“Involvement in the community is important to me, both as a business owner and as a community member,” Gil said. He said he liked all six drinks but was especially fond of the three cold foam “dirty sodas.”
Available in small, medium and large sizes, the new McCafé specialty beverages include three fruit-based lemon refreshers and three creamy dirty sodas made with soda, flavored syrups, creamer and, in some cases, a splash of citrus.
The drinks also feature mix-ins such as popping boba, freeze-dried fruit and vanilla-marshmallow cold foam.
Fruity refreshers:
Strawberry Watermelon: lemonade blended with fruity flavors and freeze-dried strawberries.
Mango Pineapple: tropical lemonade mix featuring pineapple flavors and strawberry popping boba.
Blackberry Passion Fruit: lemonade and berry flavors topped with freeze-dried dragon fruit.
Crafted sodas:
Dirty Dr. Pepper: Dr. Pepper enhanced with syrup and creamy cold foam.
Orange Dream: Hi-C Orange Lavaburst combined with flavoring and cold foam.
Sprite Berry Blast: Sprite mixed with blue raspberry syrup and topped with cold foam.
I sampled all six. The refreshers can be made with a water base for a less-sweet option. The cold foam added rich flavor. The Dirty Dr. Pepper recalled a root beer float, the Orange Dream an old-fashioned Creamsicle, and the Sprite Berry Blast stood out for its extra fizz.
