PITTSFORD – Sutherland softball just keeps winning.
A bump in classification has not deterred the reigning sectional champions. Pittsford Sutherland carried a 14-game winning streak, dating back to April 13, into the Section V Class AA2 semifinals.
Win No. 15 showed just how dangerous the Knights’ offense can be.
No. 2 Sutherland (19-3) defeated No. 3 Pittsford Mendon (12-9), 13-1, on Wednesday, May 27. Three home runs helped keep the Knights’ winning streak alive and ensured them a chance to capture their fourth Section V title in the past five seasons.
Sutherland previously defeated Mendon on both April 9 (10-1) and May 18 (9-4). The Knights beat Eastridge in last year’s Class A final before both returning finalists bumped up to AA2.
