Midway between the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour sits tight in Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial.
Local boy Scottie Scheffler was among those who pulled out of the tournament, robbing it of some of its star power. No. 6 Ludvig Åberg leads the list of five top-25 players in the FedEx Cup standings, while J.J. Spaun tops the seven top-20 players in the World Golf Ranking. Prior winners back for another at Colonial include Davis Riley, Emiliano Grillo, Kevin Kisner and Chris Kirk.
Maybe Rickie Fowler will continue his resurgence. The one-time rising star, who finished in the top five of all four majors in 2014, had three straight top-10s and a runner-up before falling flat at the PGA Championship. Justin Thomas has seemed to be back to his former self, improving week over week since the Masters before coming in fourth at Aronimink.

Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge will broadcast nationally on Golf Channel starting at 4 p.m. May 28-29. Rounds 3 and 4 will start on Golf Channel at 1 p.m. before switching to CBS at 3 p.m. May 30-31.

Where is the Charles Schwab Challenge played?
Since 1946, the PGA Tour has held a May tournament at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. It’s hosted the U.S. Open for both men (1941) and women (1991), as well as the 1975 Players Championship before the event found its forever home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The Colonial plays at par-70 over 7,289 yards.
Who won the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge?
Ben Griffin and Matti Schmid put up identical rounds leading up to the final day last year at Colonial. Griffin came out on top, finishing a stroke ahead at 13 under for his first solo PGA Tour victory (he teamed with Andrew Novak to win the Zurich Classic that April).
