A person was found dead inside a tent encampment on the morning of Memorial Day in St. Lucie County, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies went about 10:20 a.m. May 25 to the 2600 block of Rolyat Street, located between the Starbucks and 7 Brew Coffee locations on Okeechobee Road, in reference to a person found dead, according to officials on the afternoon of May 26.
Detectives determined the death to be homicide after an autopsy was performed, according to officials. They were actively investigating the scene in the area of Rolyat Street and Okeechobee Road on May 26, including processing evidence.
Detectives were trying to find a 30-year-old man who is homeless and last seen about one week ago in that same area.
