3 Jaguars rookies who begin push for playing time in OTAs

OTAs have arrived for the Jacksonville Jaguars, providing several rookies an opportunity to begin their push for playing time this season.

In this third phase of offseason programs, no contact can take place, but teams can do team periods as the competition ramps up.

Not included on this list are Nate Boerkircher and Albert Regis, both of whom are expected to have roles right away. The other three players mentioned, however, will have to carve out playing time through OTAs and training camp.

OL Emmanuel Pregnon

Pregnon adds more size to the Jaguars’ offensive line. He could push either Ezra Cleveland or Patrick Mekari for playing time at guard. Cleveland and Mekari’s experience in Liam Coen’s offense and at the NFL level give them a potential advantage.

S Jalen Huskey

Huskey brings another versatile presence to the Jaguars’ secondary. He could have the opportunity to compete for the third safety spot on the depth chart, with Caleb Ransaw and Rayuan Lane. We saw a lot of three-safety looks from Anthony Campanile last season.

DE Wesley Williams

Williams will have the opportunity to earn snaps as one of the top options behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker. His well-rounded skill set can make Williams a three-down defender. Williams will be competing with Zach Durfee, BJ Green, and Danny Striggow for that playing time.
