The Buckeye State is gearing up for America’s 250th anniversary, launching several programs with the hopes residents will take time to reconnect with the state and the country’s history.
One of the initiatives is the “4th Grade History Pass,” which provides all of the state’s fourth grade students with free admission to participating museums and historical sites. In July, fourth graders can bring up to three family members for free.

What is the ‘4th Grade History Pass?’
The “4th Grade History Pass” allows every fourth grade student in Ohio to visit a participating history-related museum or site in the state for free with a paid adult.
However, in July, students can bring up to three family members for free.
The initiative is part of Ohio’s celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Who is eligible for the ‘4th Grade History Pass’?
All Ohio fourth graders are eligible for the pass. It can be used during their current school year and will remain valid through Aug. 31, 2026.

How to get the history pass
To obtain the “4th Grade History Pass,” simply visit america250-ohio.org/fourth-grade-pass and locate the section to digitally download or print the pass. From there, you will be asked to enter your zip code. After entering the code, the pass will pop up.
Can the passes be used more than once?
Yes.
The “4th Grade History Pass” can be used more than once and at multiple museums or historic sites as long as they are participating locations. A pass will need to be shown at each location.
Will the pass cover special exhibits or shows?
According to Ohio’s America 250 website, the pass will only cover the museum’s general admission. Guardians should plan to pay for admission fees for any extra activity, such as a planetarium show, giant screen film, or special exhibition.
