Family Fun Day returns to Sault for fifth year on May 31

Sault Historic Sites and Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours are teaming up to host the Fifth Annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, May 31.

The day-long activities are open to all Eastern Upper Peninsula residents in exchange for a monetary donation at each participating site. This year, donations will benefit the “I AM THE STORM” Mackenzie (Kalchik) Paul Memorial Scholarship at the Chippewa County Community Foundation.

“We are honored to co-host the fifth annual Family Fun Day that brings our community together in support of a meaningful cause,” said Lacie Wojnaroski, executive director of Sault Historic Sites, in the event announcement. “EUP residents can enjoy free admission to all of our attractions with a donation to Mackenzie’s Memorial Scholarship established in honor of a beloved young member of our community whose strength and spirit touched so many. This event is an opportunity to come together, explore our area and support a legacy that will continue to make a difference.”

The Museum Ship Valley Camp, Tower of History and River of History Museum are included in the day’s fun. Residents can also enjoy a ride with Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours.

“We welcome families to take advantage of this unique opportunity on Sunday, May 31, to explore the rich history of our area at the Tower of History and Museum Ship Valley Camp at Sault Historic Sites, experience a Famous Soo Locks Classic Lock Tour, and enjoy Mackenzie’s beautiful artwork on display and available for purchase in the Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours lobby while supporting a meaningful cause in our local community,” said Scott LaBonte, general manager of Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours, in a statement.

Museum Ship Valley Camp, Tower of History and River of History Museum are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours opens at 9 a.m. and tours depart at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
