Notre Dame vs. Syracuse: Live updates & highlights of Final 4 contest

Notre Dame lacrosse will take on the Syracuse Orange for the chance to play for a National Championship on Monday, and everything will be on the line.

The Irish will be playing in the second game of the day, as Duke and Princeton will battle it out ahead of their game. The Tigers are the No. 1 seed, so they are the favorites, and could present a challenge for Notre Dame.

However, they’ll have to get there first, as it will be a fun filled day of lacrosse in Charlottesville, Virginia. Follow along below for live updates, highlights and analysis of Notre Dame taking on Syracuse.

Halftime. Notre Dame 7, Syracuse 4

A Josh Yago power-play goal makes it 7-4 in favor of Notre Dame at the end of the first half.

Notre Dame survives the man-up advantage and scores shorthanded

Notre Dame was facing a two-minute, non-releasable, man-down situation, and Teddy Lally scores with one second left on the penalty time.

Max Busenkell gets one to make it 6-3, but the Orange get one back soon after.

Notre Dame controlled the start, but the Orange strike back. End of first quarter.

Notre Dame was out to a 4-0 lead and controlling the game, with goalie Thomas Ricciardelli playing well, but struggles with faceoffs led Syracuse control the ball for most of the final few minutes of the first quarter — and the Orange scored three straight goals to make it 4-3, Irish, at end of the first quarter. Syracuse has the momentum, but Notre Dame has the lead and the quarter break could lead to a reset.

Notre Dame gets two more goals before first TV timeout

Will Angrick put a Will Maheras pass into the net, and later, with 5:15 remaining in the first quarter, Max Busenkell put one home.

The Irish strike first

A man-up goal for Brock Behrman gets the Irish on the board with 11:04 remaining in the first quarter.

The stage is set

Notre Dame has been fantastic over the last few seasons, winning the title in 2023 and 2024. The Irish have a great opportunity to return to the top of the sport, and will look to bring a title back to South Bend.
