Notre Dame vs Syracuse men's lacrosse NCAA final four live score, updates

For the second time in four weeks, Notre Dame and Syracuse men’s lacrosse are locking horns.

This time, it’s at the NCAA Tournament semifinals in Charlottesville, VA. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. ET following the first semifinal matchup at Scott Stadium between top-seeded Princeton and unseeded (but dangerous) Duke.

Second-seeded Notre Dame (12-2) dealt sixth-seeded Syracuse (13-5) a 16-11 loss on April 25 in South Bend. The Orange are coming off a 13-11 quarterfinal win over third-seeded North Carolina, which enabled Syracuse to avenge two previous losses this season.

This is the 25th all-time meeting between Notre Dame and Syracuse. The series is tied at 12.

Notre Dame, making its eighth trip to the Final Four with 38th-year coach Kevin Corrigan, is looking for its third national title in four years. Syracuse, with 42 (official) Final Four appearances and 10 (official) national titles, is making it second straight trip to Championship Weekend after ending a drought that extended back to 2013.

Scott Stadium playing surface holds up well

Notre Dame lacrosse coach Kevin Corrigan wasn’t sure at midweek what the weather would do for the grass playing surface on semifinal Saturday.

So far, so good, it seems.

“Beautiful surface,” Corrigan told ESPNU in a quick interview between Saturday’s games. “I was shocked (Friday) what a great surface this was. They’ve been getting rain for a couple of days, and it’s been taking it beautifully. It’s good to go.”

Princeton advances to Monday’s men’s lacrosse final

Top-seeded Princeton led Duke by just two at halftime, but the Tigers pulled away in the second half for a convincing 14-7 win in Saturday’s first semifinal.

This marks the first NCAA final appearance for Princeton since 2002.

Former Georgetown prep teammates Colin Burns and Nate Kabiri each produced hat tricks for the Tigers, who also received a 20-save performance from senior goalie Ryan Croddick. Kabiri is one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award as the outstanding player in college lacrosse.

Should Notre Dame advance, the Irish would face Princeton for just the second time ever. The only previous meeting was in 2010 at Princeton, an 8-5 win for Notre Dame in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
