BALTIMORE – The Detroit Tigers’ game on Saturday, May 23, has been postponed.
First pitch between the Tigers and Baltimore Orioles won’t happen due to inclement weather at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The second of three games in the series was supposed to begin at 4:05 p.m., but rain nixed those plans.
A split doubleheader has been scheduled for Sunday, with the first game at 12:35 p.m. and the second game at 6:05 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on Detroit SportsNet.
“We have to deal with the weather, and it doesn’t look promising,” manager A.J. Hinch said before Friday’s 7-4 loss to the Orioles. “[Saturday] looks awful. Sunday looks less awful. There’s always the thought of coming back here, but we can’t get our heads too far down that path.”
Left-hander Framber Valdez was scheduled to start Saturday’s game for the Tigers, opposed by Orioles right-hander Brandon Young.
For Sunday, Valdez will start Game 1 of the doubleheader.
The starter for Game 2 hasn’t been made official, but it’s expected to be the return of right-hander Troy Melton from right elbow inflammation. He completed four starts on his rehab assignment, including one with Triple-A Toledo.
It will be Melton’s first game for the Tigers in 2026.
The Orioles have set Young as the Game 1 starter and left-hander Trevor Rogers as the Game 2 starter.
