New York Giants' Jaxson Dart explains how he's different than Tim Tebow

Just a few games into last season, the New York Giants gave Jaxson Dart his first NFL start, and the rookie put the league on notice from that point forward. Although the Giants’ record did not reflect a great deal of team success in 2025, the future appears bright with Dart under center for Big Blue.

As Dart continues his first full offseason in the NFL while working with a brand-new coaching staff, he spoke with the media this week and was asked about his physical growth during the offseason.

“I think when you just get into the league, there’s a little bit more resources that you have when it comes to a nutrition standpoint, building out a plan. Had a really good offseason. And I was happy to make it through this past season healthy,” he said. “So being able to continue to make those strides, those growths, and make plans in place of where I wanted to get better at, especially with just my health and nutrition.”

Fans, of course, are hoping Dart aims to take less contact in his sophomore season. However, it may be in Dart’s best interest to bulk up and become a little more durable for the hits he does take.

Dart was asked if there was any danger in becoming too muscular, and he quickly shut down any thought of that.

“No, I’m not close to that. I’m not like Tim Tebow. I’m not like that,” he said. “I’m probably the most mobile I’ve been in my career right now. Just my hips and the disassociation from my upper to lower body, being able to make throws. I think my body is in the best shape it’s been.”

It’s already clear after just his rookie year that Dart is a much better runner than Tebow was during his brief NFL career. Under the brand-new coaching staff and a reconstructed roster, Dart may not need to rely on his legs as much moving forward—especially with upgrades in pass protection from first-round pick Francis Mauigoa and free-agent acquisition fullback Patrick Ricard.

The Giants certainly hope and believe that Dart will be a more long-term solution at quarterback than Tebow was during his career. With John Harbaugh now running the show, many expect Dart to show significant improvement in his sophomore season.
