Despite not having the bizarre circumstance surrounding Caitlin Clark’s injury absence ahead of a dominant 90-73 victory over the Portland Fire on Wednesday night, the former Hawkeye is projected to return to action alongside the Indiana Fever (3-2) as they close out their four-game homestand at Gainbridge Fieldhouse tonight against the Golden State Valkyries (3-1).
While the Fever comfortably won without Clark in action, the inadequate handling and subsequent reporting of her injury status ahead of Wednesday’s contest drew national attention and eventually a warning from the WNBA for violating its policies on such matters.
As for the Valkyries, they will be playing the tail end of a back-to-back after a dominant 87-70 win over the New York Liberty on Friday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Golden State’s offense is led by forward Gabby Williams (15.0 ppg; 38.0% shooting), followed by rookie forward Janelle Salaun (14.8 ppg; 42.9% shooting) and guard Veronica Burton (14.5 ppg; 35.5% shooting).
