The Michigan football program has been on a heater in regards to recruiting, and while it may slow down for a spell with official visits on the horizon, Friday night will not be the impetus of that slow down, but more so the culmination of the torrid pace recently set by Kyle Whittingham and company in recent weeks.
The Wolverines have gotten eight commitments in the month of May, and are likely to get a ninth on Friday night. Heavily predicted to the maize and blue, Michigan has surged for 2027 Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel four-star safety Tavares Harrington, teammate of current four-star wide receiver commit, Quentin Burrell. Harrington visited Ann Arbor for the spring game, and since then, Notre Dame, Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss have seemed to taken a back seat.
The elite safety is expected to make his pledge known public on Friday night at 8 p.m. EDT with it being carried live on the Rivals YouTube channel.

Harrington is rated highest by ESPN, which has him as the No. 102 player overall, nationally. Here is his scouting report via Rivals’ Allen Trieu:
Great size and length. Comes from a very good high school program with experience in high level 7-on-7 also. Shows body control and plays the ball well in the air because of size as well as body control. Does a great job of play recognition. Gets the jumps on screens and short routes, closes quickly and is a good tackler at corner. Will need to show he has the top end speed and change of direction to stay at corner long term at his size. Projects first as a big boundary corner but could certainly move into the slot or play a nickel type role, potentially even getting safety looks in time. But well-schooled, physical, and will find a home to make an impact at at one of those positions.
