The M&M boys are going into the 2026 University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame.
Former Florida basketball standouts Vernon Maxwell and Andrew Moten will be inducted into UF’s Athletic Hall of Fame together, the school announced on May 22.
The high-scoring guard tandem of Maxwell and Moten helped lead the Florida Gators to their first two NCAA Tournament trips in school history in 1987 and 1988. The duo combined for 4,380 points, which ranks as the highest-scoring tandem in SEC history.
They were nicknamed the M&M boys when they played together at UF under the late Norm Sloan, both capable of playing on or off the ball. Maxwell, who had his records restored last fall, is UF’s all-time leading scorer at 2,450 points. Moten ranks fourth on UF’s all-time list at 1,930 career points.
Florida basketball coach Todd Golden informed the two former UF players of their induction on a Zoom call.
“What you guys did for the University of Florida, getting the program on the map and being the kick-starters for what we’ve been able to do here the last 20 or 30 years means a lot to us,” Golden told the two Florida natives.
Maxwell and Moten join former Florida softball Kelsey Stuart and former Florida gymnastics national champion Bridgett Sloan as 2026 UF Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. They will be honored on October 9 ahead of UF’s homecoming football game against South Carolina.
