With Organized team activities (OTAs) almost here for the Jacksonville Jaguars, let’s take a look at the current state of the team’s defensive depth chart.
To preview the depth chart on offense, you can find that here.
Offseason workouts have already been underway for the Jaguars for roughly the last month, but OTAs begin on May 26th. In this third phase of offseason programs, no contact can take place, but teams can do competitive team periods.
As already mentioned in the offensive depth chart preview, from a roster construction standpoint, it’s been a relatively quiet offseason for the Jaguars. That said, the departures of Devin Lloyd and Travis Etienne, along with the additions of Chris Rodriguez and 10 draft picks, could create some positional competitions that will take place over the summer.
Heading into the first OTA practice, here is the defensive depth chart and where things stand at each position group.
Defensive line
Williams and Durfee will compete with Green and Striggow for the rotational defensive end roles behind Hines-Allen and Walker. The defensive tackle room could already be fairly well set with Armstead, Hamilton, Regis, Orhorhoro, and Dickerson making up that position group, unless Rose, Bollers, or Hunt push Dickerson for a roster spot.
Linebacker
Gladstone has been bullish about the linebacker room in Devin Lloyd’s absence, and the draft reflected that. It would appear that the starting job next to Oluokun is Miller’s for the taking. This is also a crowded position group, with Hughes, Abdullah, and Combs potentially competing for one roster spot as a primary special teams contributor.
Cornerback
At the top of the depth chart sits Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis, and Jarrian Jones. Christian Braswell is the likely front-runner as of now for the fifth roster spot, but is not quite a roster lock. And if the Jaguars keep six cornerbacks on the 53-man, that spot appears to be wide open.
Safety
This position group may already be set when it comes to the final roster, with the first five players listed making up this unit for the Jaguars in 2026. Competition, however, for that third spot on the depth chart — a position that does see playing time in Anthony Campanile’s defense — between Huskey, Ransaw, and Lane could unfold this summer.
