University Preparatory School in Victorville capped another year of awards and accomplishments as 177 senior Jaguars received diplomas on Tuesday night.
Wearing maroon caps and gowns, the group of Jaguar seniors graduated in front of a crowd of well-wishers at Silverado High School’s Hawk Stadium.
“UP continued its excellence this year with its third California Distinguished School award, adding to a long list of accolades including two National Blue Ribbon awards and multiple top regional rankings in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list,” Victor Valley Union High School District officials said.
This year’s group of graduates included three students bound for Yale University, including Rawan Gamal, Kyla McFarlin and co-Valedictorian Amber Randolph — as well as many other students headed to prestigious colleges and universities.
Teodoro Reyes was this year’s co-Valedictorian with Randolph.
University Preparatory is a grade 7 to 12 school of choice in the Victor Valley Union High School District with a strong academic focus. Many students from this year’s class started middle school at University Preparatory during the pandemic, district officials said.
“Our first year here wasn’t actually here,” Salutatorian Sneha Rajkumar said during her speech. “We started barely knowing each other’s names in our Zoom breakout rooms, and here we are crossing the stage together as graduates.”
