President Donald Trump’s approval rating remains low, even among Republicans, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll this week.
The poll, which closed on May 18, revealed that 35% of the country approved of Trump’s job performance —down from the week before, according to the poll. One of the biggest issues impacting Trump is the economy, as gas prices amid the Iran war remain high. The national average for a gallon for regular gas is $4.564 on Thursday, May 21, according to AAA.
Trump started his current term in January 2025 with a 47% approval rating, Reuters reported. Trump’s approval rating has been net negative for about a year, fluctuating but trending more negative over the last several months.
