The St. Johns County Public Library System kicks off its “Stars, Stripes, and Stories” 2026 Summer Reading Program May 31 through July 25.
The family-friendly program will spotlight America, a theme designed by Flagler College student Hailey Clark in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
More than 100 events are planned for the nine-week family reading adventure that includes storytime, a book club and STEM offerings, games, scavenger hunts, story times, movie matinees, nature programs and magic shows with magician Mark Alan.
Local partners include the Garden Club of St. Augustine, St. Johns County Parks and Recreation, Wild Lessons and Wild Wonders.
“Preventing the ‘summer slide’ is one of the most important things we can do for our young readers,” said Debra Rhodes Gibson, library system director. “The Summer Reading Program keeps kids engaged, learning and building the skills they need for a strong start to the school year.”
The “Stars, Stripes, and Stories” Summer Reading Program is sponsored by SJCPLS’s multiple Friends of the Library groups.
