Marquette rape suspect now faces charges in separate stabbing attack

The Milwaukee man charged in the sexual assault and robbery of a Marquette University student in February is now also accused in a brutal stabbing attack that occurred roughly three months earlier.

Prosecutors on May 20 filed a separate criminal case against Tedrick Boone, 34, charging him with attempted first-degree homicide, first-degree reckless injury, first-degree recklessly endangering safety and false imprisonment.

The charges stem from a Nov. 2 break-in that happened at a home on the 1600 block of West Highland Avenue.

According to a criminal complaint, police went to the home after a call that a person had been taken to Froedtert Hospital with severe injuries.

One of the roommates at the home told police he had fallen asleep but at some point heard “blood curdling” screaming coming from upstairs.

The roommate, who was in the basement, ran to the first floor and saw nothing, then went to the second floor and found the victim pinning another man, later identified as Boone, against a wall in the hallway, the complaint said.

The roommate ran up and pushed the intruder, then fought the intruder. The struggle made its way into a bedroom and it was then that the roommate saw the intruder had a knife.

During the struggle, the roommate fell onto the bed and the intruder was on top of him, according to the complaint.

The roommate grabbed the intruder’s hair, pushed his face into the wall and was able to take the knife away. The attacker then ran toward the hall and down the stairs.

The man then ran out of the house as the roommate went to check on the victim.

At the hospital, a detective found six to seven stab wounds on the victim, the complaint said.

Boone eventually emerged as a suspect because the incident took place just three blocks away from North 14th Street and West Kilbourn Avenue, where a Marquette student was attacked at gunpoint.

According to the complaint, detectives believed Boone’s alleged conduct in the break was consistent with the intent of sexually assaulting the female occupant of the house, and the suspect in the case likely would have a history of sexual assault.

The complaint said DNA testing showed Boone is a likely suspect.
