First Mar-a-Lago, now Billionaire Bunker.
The same great white shark that “visited” near President Donald Trump’s private estate in his home state of Florida is back − but this time, “Cayo” pinged near where Ivanka Trump lives.
According to Cayo’s tracker, it is the second time in just over a month that the 10-foot-long shark coincidentally popped up in areas Trump family members call home.
Tagged by OCEARCH scientists, Cayo pinged near Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach County, Florida, on April 10, 2026. On Wednesday, May 20, Cayo surfaced near Indian Creek Village, the ultra-exclusive neighborhood on an island in Biscayne Bay also known as “Billionaire Bunker.” Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, live there with their three children. Tom Brady, Julio Iglesias, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg are neighbors, though not all are billionaires.
Cayo’s tracking tag pinged in the waters southeast of Indian Creek Village at 11:34 a.m. Wednesday. A ping means the satellite tag on the shark’s dorsal fin broke the water’s surface long enough to send Cayo’s location to the OCEARCH tracker.
Here’s what to know about Cayo, great white sharks in Florida and Indian Creek Village aka “Billionaire Bunker.”
Great white shark pings near Mar-a-Lago and Billionaire Bunker in Florida
Cayo is 10 feet, 3 inches long, classified as a juvenile female white shark and weighs 689 pounds.
The shark was tagged by OCEARCH scientists on July 29, 2025, off Nova Scotia near the east coast of Canada.
In the 295 days since, Cayo has traveled a whopping 4,987 miles all the way to Florida, before going viral for showing up near Trump’s private club and residence on April 10, and in the vicinity of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s “Billionaire Bunker” neighborhood on May 20.
Mar-a-Lago is Trump’s Florida residence, private club
Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is Donald Trump’s private club. First Lady Melania Trump and their sole child, Barron Trump, a rising junior at New York University’s Stern School of Business, have stayed at Mar-a-Lago from October to May, during Palm Beach’s social season. The estate earned the nickname “Winter White House” or “Southern White House” due to the amount of time Donald Trump spent there during his first administration.
The president visited Mar-a-Lago recently, just as the 2026 social season closed. During his second term, he’s made at least 27 trips there, according to reports from the Palm Beach Post and the Palm Beach Daily News, both USA TODAY Network newspapers.
Why are great white sharks in Florida, near Mar-a-Lago, Indian Creek Village?
North Atlantic great white sharks begin an annual seasonal migration in the fall, typically from mid-October through November, from their summer feeding grounds around Atlantic Canada and New England and travel as far south as Florida and the Gulf to their overwintering spots, where many reside between December and May, presumably for warmer waters and consistent food sources.
