An 82-year-old Perry man was killed in a one-vehicle wreck on May 18, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in Taylor County on Beach Road (County Road 361) near Gordon Brown Lane. The man was the passenger in the vehicle; the 48-year-old driver suffered “minor” injuries, troopers said.
The sport utility vehicle was heading north on Beach Road shortly before 4 p.m. when it crossed the center line and veered into the shoulder, eventually running into a ditch and a fence.
Both the driver and passenger were taken to Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Perry, where the older man was pronounced dead. Neither was wearing a seatbelt, the FHP said.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Taylor County sheriff’s deputies, Survival Flight EMS, and Taylor County Fire Rescue.
