When Ashanti performed at the Ventura County Fair in 2023, she drew a packed house of about 8,000 people in a crowd officials said ranks among the fair’s biggest.
The Grammy-winning R&B singer and songwriter will return to the fairgrounds on Aug. 3, officials announced May 18 as they continued their daily reveal of fair grandstand acts. The show will also feature rapper Bow Wow.
The fair runs from July 29 to Aug. 9 at the beachside fairgrounds in Ventura. Fair officials announced earlier reggae-rock band Iration will play at the fair on July 31.
Ashanti, a native of Long Island, broke out as an artist in 2002 with a self-titled album that topped Billboard charts. She won a Grammy for best contemporary album for that debut effort and has also been nominated for seven other Grammys. Her hits include “Foolish,” “Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)” and “Happy.”
She’s also an actress and has performed in films including “Coach Carter” and Disney’s “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz.”
Bow Wow was a child rap star discovered when he was 6 years old by Snoop Dogg. His hits include “Like You” and “Let Me Hold You.” He appeared in movies including “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.”
Grandstand shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5 p.m. for a pre-party. Grandstand acts are free with admission to the fair. People can also purchase VIP tickets that will bring seats closer to the stage and other amenities. VIP tickets start at $39 and go on sale online on May 27.
Pre-sale tickets for the fair are priced through May 25 at $13 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older and $8 for children 6 to 12. Kids 5 and younger are free. For more information on the fair, go to https://venturacountyfair.org/.
