Third annual Mohawk Valley Nonprofit Symposium kicks off May 21

Herkimer Next will host the Third Annual Mohawk Valley Nonprofit Symposium, presented by The UpMobility Foundation, on May 21, at Herkimer County Community College.

Event organizers said in a statement this symposium will bring together nonprofit leaders, board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners for a full day of education, collaboration, and networking.

“In just three years, the Mohawk Valley Nonprofit Symposium has gained significant momentum throughout the region,” event organizers said in a statement. “In 2025, the event welcomed more than 150 nonprofit leaders, professionals, board members, and community partners representing 11 counties across New York state. Current registrations for the 2026 Symposium have already surpassed last year’s attendance, with participants continuing to register from across the Mohawk Valley and beyond.”

Connecting to strengthen impact

At a time when nonprofits are being asked to do more with limited resources, the symposium creates opportunities for organizations across the Mohawk Valley and surrounding regions to learn, connect, and strengthen their impact.

“The nonprofit sector is being asked to solve increasingly complex challenges with limited resources, growing compliance demands, and rising community expectations,” said Michele Hummel, executive director of Next, in a statement. “The Mohawk Valley Nonprofit Symposium was created to ensure organizations of every size have access to the knowledge, relationships, and practical tools needed to build stronger, more sustainable agencies. When nonprofits become stronger operationally, entire communities benefit.”

Who is it open to?

The symposium is open to anyone interested in nonprofit and community leadership, including nonprofit professionals, board members, volunteers, community partners, and individuals exploring the process of starting a nonprofit organization. Attendees will have access to vendors and exhibitors offering essential resources to nonprofit organizations.

All 11 featured speakers are from the Mohawk Valley, highlighting the depth of experience, leadership, and expertise within the region, along with a shared understanding of local opportunities and challenges. For a full list of sessions and speakers or to register, visit MVNPS2026.eventbrite.com.

The Third Annual Mohawk Valley Nonprofit Symposium is presented by The UpMobility Foundation in partnership with Daneli Partners and First Source Federal Credit Union, alongside numerous sponsors and community partners committed to strengthening nonprofit capacity across the Mohawk Valley.
