Memorial Day is a federal holiday and a solemn day of remembrance to honor those who gave their lives in service to their country.
In Dutchess County, municipalities are gathering residents, veterans and their families at ceremonies and parades on from May 21-25.
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino in a statement encouraged residents to take time to remember and reflect on the “true meaning of Memorial Day.”
“So many of our Dutchess County neighbors have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country and keeping us free,” Serino said. “We will never forget their courage nor their heroism.”
Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 25.
