Carolina head coach Dave Canales has confirmed an item reported by the Times-Union on Saturday, May 16, that the Panthers and Jaguars will hold joint practices in the days prior to their Aug. 21 preseason game.
A source had told T-U columnist Ryan O’Halloran the Jaguars were planning to have joint practices before each of their preseason games at New Orleans (Aug. 15) and home against Carolina (Aug. 21) and Tampa Bay (Aug. 28).
Official confirmation for the Saints and Buccaneers has not yet occurred, but Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud also reported that the Bucs and Jags would hold joint practices via a May 15 Tweet.
The teams would have one practice against each other likely two days before the game.
As stated by O’Halloran, Jaguars head coach “Liam Coen could feel comfortable sitting his top guys in the preseason games knowing they got enough work in the three joint practices.”
Last year, the Jaguars had one joint practice before their game at the Miami Dolphins.
Carolina played the Jaguars in Week 1 of the 2025 season and lost 26-10. Both teams made the playoffs as division winners.
