A new Japanese-style restaurant is bringing sushi and hibachi dinners to Green Bay.
Sushi Takumi & Grill, 875 Lombardi Ave., at the former Koko’s Sushi Bar and Lounge, had a soft opening on May 2. Owner Andy Yang said the first week was busier than expected, which made it difficult with the restaurant still needing a couple more employees. However, they added two more servers and expect things to go smoother.
The restaurant was painted inside, and new tables, booths and decorations were installed. Yang said improvements to the building will continue over time.
The menu offers sushi rolls – generally eight to 10 pieces – and teriyaki and hibachi dinners. The latter are prepared in the kitchen – there aren’t any hibachi tables at the restaurant. There are also dinner bento boxes, which Yang said consist of miso soup, a house salad, a California roll and another appetizer.
“It’s kind of like your own little buffet, with a variety of items all together,” Yang said.
He also said they have additional Asian dishes, like Thai curry, red braised salmon, and salt and pepper shrimp.
The menu for children younger than 10 features several types of hibachi dinners, including steak, shrimp, salmon, filet mignon, scallops or vegetables.
Yang said they have a large room for up to 20 people, which can be reserved for parties or events.
“We are excited and look forward to serve the Green Bay community,” he said.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
