Bay View burger restaurant has closed

A Utah-based burger restaurant that opened its first out-of-state location in Bay View in 2023 has closed after being evicted.

Patty Shack, 2121 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., was empty inside on Thursday, May 14. An eviction notice posted on the restaurant’s front window was dated May 8.

The business confirmed it was permanently closed in a Facebook comment May 10.

Landlord Baylawn Properties LLC filed a small claims complaint against tenant and Patty Shack owner Desmond Jimerson in March, according to court records. A rent and damages court proceeding is scheduled for July 1.

When Patty Shack opened in Bay View, Jimerson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he had a longtime connection with Patty Shack’s owner, Justin Newbold, and decades of experience running franchised restaurants.

Before Patty Shack’s opening, the location was home to Sisu Cafe, a Finnish and Nordic food restaurant that was open for just eight months before closing. Prior to that, it housed Subway, Fuji Poke and Taco Stop MKE – the latter two of which were each open about a year.
