Acevedo was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Ventura Road, north of Stone Creek Drive, when he was believed to have lost control of his bike after striking a raised curb in the center median, Oxnard Police Department officials previously said.

He was thrown from his bike and landed on the center median while the motorcycle landed in the southbound traffic lanes, officials said.

The motorcyclist was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
